Why Give

When Charles Tufts was asked what he would do with a barren hill in Medford, Massachusetts, he replied simply: “I will put a light on it.” That aspiration, to light the world with educated citizens, provided a foundation for Tufts College, founded in 1852. It has proven to be a powerful vision.

Photo of Ballou entranceTufts has been remarkably transformed from a small college into a university of international stature. It has grown from one building to a university with three campuses in Medford-Somerville, Boston, and Grafton. Its constellation of schools — arts and sciences, engineering, law and diplomacy, dental, medical and veterinary medicine, and nutrition science and policy — is unmatched. And while each of these schools is proud of its unique strengths, they have increasingly demonstrated innovative cross-school collaborations that are bringing novel solutions to complex global issues.

When you give to Tufts, you invest in a university of proven achievement and tremendous potential to make a better world. Annually, your gifts support critical priorities such as financial aid, faculty development, and enhanced research capabilities. Endowed gifts and capital gifts allow Tufts to aim high: to envision financial aid for every worthy student, to recruit the finest faculty, to build the very best facilities.

We appreciate each and every gift. All gifts, regardless of size, make a difference to Tufts. If we can help you find the right opportunity, please contact us at giving@tufts.edu.
